Background

From waste material to infrastructure.

Europe's railways replace millions of sleepers every year. Traditional wooden sleepers are treated with creosote — a substance with recognised environmental effects — and are typically classified as special waste at decommissioning.

EGI was developed around an alternative product: a sleeper manufactured from recycled composite raw material. The result is a product with documented service life, recyclability, and technical properties matching or exceeding existing solutions.

Operating principles

Three principles guide production and delivery.

Principle 01

Circularity

Raw material is sourced from recycled streams, and the finished product is fully recyclable at end of life. Operations are conducted without contributing to landfill waste streams.

Principle 02

Documented quality

The premium range is certified to ISO 12856 and dimensioned for long-term operation. Technical documentation is supplied with every delivery.

Principle 03

Transparent business

Material origin, place of manufacture and pricing are openly disclosed. No hidden costs or complex contractual structures.
